Do you truly have compassion?
It’s been a long day at work and you get off your interstate exit to finally head toward your recliner and television. As you get off the exit you notice a homeless man sitting on the side of the road with a sign, you see him every day and never really pay him any attention. Honestly your true thoughts are HE NEEDS TO GET A JOB.
You pass by a food bank and notice long lines of people needing food, you think to yourself, wow they want everything given to them.
You are in line at the grocery store and the person in front of you can’t afford their grocers, you wish they would stop holding up the line.
Let’s be honest, it is very easy to have a hardened heart. You get so tied up in the struggles of today and tomorrow that you lose true compassion for the lost and those in need.
Matthew 25:35-40 "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?"
Every day we are faced with opportunities to help others. God opens up doors for us to bless others and minister. When you see someone struggling do you have compassion for them and desire to help?
God placed churches in communities to fulfill Matthew 25. To help those in need just like Jesus would do. God wants us to have a heart like Him, a compassion to bring others into the kingdom. A heart to serve and a heart to give.
Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
What if the church of today began to have a heart like God. What if we began to truly have compassion for others. I believe we would see a revival like we never have before. Today make a stand, make a difference and live a life of compassion.
